Village Church MOPS – The Beginning
We would like to share with you how Village Church Burbank MOPS was established. It all began with a need…a need that was felt by working moms, stay at home moms, single moms and young moms, the need to connect with other moms. Motherhood is a challenging but rewarding gift that God has given to us.
It was clear when talking with other moms that we were all experiencing this journey of motherhood together, yet separately. We were all in search of the same things – encouragement, hope, connections, support, and just plain old “me” time. There was a missing piece to our “mothering puzzle”, that missing piece was found in MOPS.
The need of having a MOPS group was presented to our Pastor, Wade Mikels, who was in complete support of the ministry from the start. We began to gather our steering team, three of us to start, our coordinator, Moppets coordinator and publicity leader. Starting a new ministry seemed to be a daunting task, but we pushed through and with God’s guidance we started Village Church Burbank MOPS.
July 12, 2006, we sat around the table for our first official MOPS meeting. We had no idea how MOPS would forever change our lives, we have been so blessed that God has been fulfilling our needs by transforming them into answers.
It is our hope that our story is a familiar one to you. We hope that in our MOPS group you will find a place where you can be yourself, find a support system of other moms that are experiencing the same ups and downs of motherhood that you are experiencing, a place where God can guide you to be the best mother that you can be. We are excited to have you as part of our MOPS “family” and look forward to see how God will continue to grow our MOPS group.
